Penguin Valentine Bags!

Here are the Valentine bags we make with our kids!

Click {HERE} to get the templates!  All you need is a black bag for each student--or you could just have them color white ones (as long as it's the ones that can be colored on---that aren't the shiny kind)  I realized I forgot to trace the heart for you.  They could make their own or you can provide some already made (from the diecut?!)  I had my kids trace their glue stick caps for the eyes---we have the fat ones.

Also-I just posted what I think is my new most favorite packet!  I found the most adorable borders from the Moffett Girls----and inspiration hit!  (actually, I've been planning on creating stuff for Click Clack Moo, but not at this very moment.)

Penguin Fact Families

Here's a penguin math craft that we did last week while studying penguins and reading Tacky!  Click here to read more about that!

Students choose a fact family and write the 4 problems (I did not allow doubles facts for this!  They also wrote on scrap paper first, so that I knew they had all the right numbers.  I allowed them to choose ANY family they could figure out---but said to stay under 100, because there was no way they'd fit those numbers on the snowballs!)  They write the 3 numbers in the big snowball at the top and the addition and subtraction on the smaller side ones.  It looks as though the penguin is juggling them! :)  (I also have my kiddos have the addition on one side and the subtraction on the other, but you don't have to)  Click {HERE} for the templates.

**It's nothing fancy.  I made tracers with cardstock for them to trace their own.  (Also teaches patience and sharing!!)**

{This is a kid example.  I have no idea where the picture for mine is!}

The scarf is just cut however they like.  I have them have the same color feet for fun :)

Here's the bulletin board.  I used my Cameo to make the letters!  It was my first project for it!!

PS-make sure to hop on over to my FB page to join in a little contest about the superbowl!  https://www.facebook.com/RulinTheRoost

Penguins, Penguins, Penguins!

Hi all!  I hope you are having a wonderful, relaxing holiday break.  I believe the full moon is causing all kinds of chaos in my house with my boys, but other than that--I've been having a blast.  Though, it's going by SO incredibly fast!  We're expecting more snow again-though nothing has actually lasted.  It will be 3 different snow "storms" within a week!  I certainly hope that it's not a preview of this winter!  I'm all for the 2 hour delays, but would rather not have a bunch of days off.  We already have 2 due to Hurricane Sandy...  (I'm also not fond of getting out early and having to weather the storm to pick up my kids... I don't live near my school-and it's all back country type roads, up and down hills to get to my house or to where my kids are!)

Since it's so cold, I wanted to come and post about a great freebie that I have posted in my TPT shop.  It's actually the very first item I had in my shop almost a year ago!  I can't believe how fast time has gone.  The game has students sorting whether a number sentence is true or false.  My kids loved it last year, and I can't wait to get them out again this year.  Click on the picture to go to my TPT store and download it.

This freebie is actually a piece of my very first center packet that I made for TPT.

And my first story problem packet!  My kids were super story problem solvers last year, and it also helped with their writing!

 Last, I renamed my Tacky Penguin Research Packet, so the links might not be working on other posts.  I can't wait to use this when we get back.  We're even going to have a "Tacky" day to celebrate Tacky, along with a week of research of different penguins.  I just think penguins are adorable.

I had to share these sites too that I came across on Pinterest.  It's a live webcam of penguins!  How cool!

I'll be back in a few days to share more about my daily 5 that I never had.  ;)
